Cheaper Emerald Jewelery

Cheaper Emerald JewelleryCheaper emerald jewellery is available on line and through auction sites. But it is important to be careful and ensure that you are getting actual emeralds and not the cheaper synthetic versions.

Emeralds are a rare green variety of the mineral beryl with the green coming from the chromium content within the emerald.

Emeralds have always been highly prized and a high quality emerald can be worth even more than a diamond.

Although generally thought of as green, emeralds can, in fact, come in a variety of colors. The color depends on the mineral impurities contained within the emerald.

Examples are: The blue stone known as aquamarine, and the pink shades known as morganite. You can get also get yellow and golden emeralds and, even rarer, a red emerald.

Emeralds are quite hard being in the range of seven to eight on the Mohs hardness scale. Just below Rubies nine and diamonds at ten. Emerald is the May birthstone and traditionally given for the 55th wedding anniversary.

Some of the most beautiful emeralds available come from Colombia. These are often a brilliant green tinged with a striking blue hue. Emeralds are found in many countries including, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

When looking for the cheaper emerald jewellery it pays to check that the jeweller is selling genuine emeralds and not synthetic ones. Ask him to supply a certificate to state that the emerald you are buying is genuine. The certificate should have a description of the emerald, its cut, color, clarity and size and the value.

Ensure that the jeweller you are dealing with is genuine also. Are there contact details such as a phone number, postal address and email you can use? Does he or she have a returns policy? What you see on the internet is not always what you get so if you feel it is not as described you might wasn’t to return it.

Perhaps some history and information about the jeweler and if they are a member of the better Business Bureau.

Basically do your due diligence and some research. Shop around and compare prices. It is a good idea to inform one dealer or jeweler what you have found and ask if they can better it.

When it comes to cheaper emerald jewelery you might be surprised what a jeweler will do to get your business.
